The CDC Labor Responds to AIDS (LRTA) Labor Leader's Kit can now be viewed and/or downloaded from the Web

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Labor Responds to AIDS (LRTA) helps unions design workplace policies on HIV/AIDS and HIV-prevention training programs for workers, their families, and the community. Labor leaders who begin this process will want to start by getting the LRTA Labor Leader's Kit, which provides basic information on HIV/AIDS, on protecting workers' benefits, and on educating workers and their families. This resource is available on the Business Responds to AIDS and Labor Responds to AIDS Web site at http://www.brta-lrta.org/mats/labor.htm

"African Americans & HIV/AIDS: A Guide to Selected Resources"

AIDS is the leading cause of death for African Americans between the ages of 25 and 44. Though African Americans form approximately 13 percent of the U.S. population, in 1997 over half (53 percent) of the total AIDS cases reported were among African Americans. To address this problem, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is supporting hundreds of community-based organizations across the U.S. in implementing programs and providing HIV prevention services to African-American communities. As part of the CDC effort, the National Prevention Information Network (NPIN) provides the Pathfinder titled "African Americans & HIV/AIDS: A Guide to Selected Resources" to help you locate HIV/AIDS information, resources, and services for African Americans, and to direct you to prevention information targeting African-American communities. You can find this useful resource on the Web at http://www.cdcnpin.org/topic/aaguide/.
