    The current Spotlight on the NPIN Internet site highlights the "XIII International AIDS Conference." It features relevant publications, news, and links to sites relating to the conference, which will be held in Durban, South Africa from July 9-14, 2000.

    The Web site highlighting the conference, Now More Than Ever: Workplace Solutions for HIV and AIDS, September 7 - 8, 2000, Washington, D.C., was launched and can be viewed at
    http://www.brta-lrta.org/conference2000/. The two-day event, sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and its national business and labor partners, will be an information- packed conference where many of the country's HIV workplace leaders will present fresh, helpful perspectives on workplace issues.

    CDC announces the availability of the Program Announcement 00100: Community-Based Strategies to Increase HIV Testing of Persons at High Risk in Communities of Color. Materials for this program are available on the NPIN Web site for viewing, printing, and downloading. The NPIN site also offers online checklists to assist users in determining their eligibility. Visit http://www.cdcnpin.org/program/. These funds will go to help community-based organizations (CBOs) provide HIV counseling, testing, and referral services to individuals at high risk for HIV infection. To apply, your CBO must be:

    • Working with African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, and/or Asians/Pacific Islanders

    • Located in one of the Metropolitan Statistical Areas with the highest prevalence of reported AIDS cases as of 1998, http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/funding/00100/msas.pdf, or in the counties or cities with the most syphilis cases in 1999, http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/funding/00100/syphillis.pdf.
