Unspeakable: The Naked Truth About STDs

This Web site highlights the Naked Truth, which is a public health outreach project provided as an educational service.

CDC provides national leadership on sexually transmitted disease (STD) prevention. The Division of STD Prevention is part of CDC's National Center for HIV, STD and TB Prevention and coordinates CDC's effort in STD Prevention. CDC's leadership in STD prevention includes:

  • Research and policy development
  • Support of effective services to prevent STDs (including HIV infection) and their complications, such as enhanced HIV transmission, infertility, adverse outcomes of pregnancy, and reproductive tract cancer
  • Assisting health departments, healthcare providers, and nongovernmental organizations and collaborating with other governmental entities through the development, synthesis, translation, and dissemination of timely, science-based information
  • The development of national goals and science-based policy
  • The development and support of science-based programs that meet the needs of communities
The STD section of the NPIN Web site is designed to facilitate the sharing of information and resources on sexually transmitted diseases for all individuals searching for prevention information.
