Welcome to the
CDC Geneva '98 Web Site!
Research presented at the 12th World AIDS
Conference highlighted the dichotomy of emotions many of us feel: the excitement
brought by the tremendous progress made in prevention and treatmentand the ongoing
frustration at knowing that many populations have not yet felt the benefits of this
progress. Access to scientific information for community-based prevention program planners
and others involved in HIV prevention is crucial as we move forward with our shared
commitment to close the gaps in prevention.
The messages, information, and resources outlined here are an effort to
bring home the successes and challenges provided to conference participants in Geneva.
This information will alert you to key research from CDC and provide links to other
valuable resources. We hope this information is useful to you and your colleagues in
advancing important prevention messages with local media and organizations with which you
work.
