Border

Search All Text Return to Top

Use this field to search for any word, phrase, numerical sequence, or abbreviation anywhere in the entire database. If you are not sure where a certain word or phrase might appear, enter it in this field.

Example:
To search for records with the words "outpatient" and "psychotherapy" next to each other and in that order, enter the following:

Organization Name Return to Top

Use this field to find organizations with a certain word or words in their names.

Example:
To find organizations with "training" or "education" or both in their names, enter the following:

State Return to Top

Use this field to find organizations in a particular state in the United States. Type in the two-letter postal code. Do not use any punctuation.

Example:
To find organizations in Georgia or Alabama, enter the following:

Use this field if you are searching for organizations in a country other than the United States. If you enter a country with more than one word in its name, put quotes around it.

Example:
To find organizations in the United Kingdom, enter the following:

Use this field to find organizations located in a particular city. If you enter a city with more than one word in its name, put quotes around it.

Example:
To find organizations in Los Angeles, enter the following:

ZIP Code Return to Top

Use this field to find organizations in a particular ZIP Code. Enter the five-digit ZIP Code (no extensions). If you do not get any results, try adding a city name to your search or a ZIP Code of another area geographically near to the original ZIP Code.

To find organizations in ZIP Codes 20009, 20010, and 20036, enter the following:

Area Code Return to Top

Use this field to find organizations that have telephone numbers in a particular area code. You cannot search by complete phone number in this field, only area code. You can also use this field to find organizations that have toll-free (800 or 888) numbers.

Non-English Language Return to Top

Use this field if you are looking for an organization that has a staff member or members who speak a language other than or in addition to English. You may either enter the language code or spell out the language name. View a list of languages and codes.

TTY Return to Top

Use this field to search for organizations that list a TTY/TDD number, or to find out if a particular organization has a TTY/TDD number.

Example:
To find organizations with a TTY/TDD number, enter the following:

Target Audience Return to Top

Use this field to search for organizations that target a particular group of people with their services. Type one or more keywords that describe the target audience of the type of organization you are searching for.

Example:
To find organizations that target young women, enter the following:

Primary and Secondary Organization Type Return to Top

Use these fields to search for organizations depending on their primary and secondary functions. Choose organization types from the pull-down menus. The Primary Organization Type describes the primary function of an organization, and the Secondary Organization Type describes a secondary function of an organization. You may use both fields or just one.

To find hospitals that also function as extended care facilities, enter the following:

Organizational Level Return to Top

Use this field to search for organizations at a certain level. Choose a level from the pull-down menu.

To find national organizations, enter the following:

Display Options Return to Top

There are two display options that control the format and the number of results displayed on your screen. These options are found at the bottom of the Resources and Services Database search page.

Select Display Format

  1. List of matching organizations.
    This option will display a list of only organization names on your screen. To view the full record, click on the highlighted name.
  2. Complete information about matching organizations.
    This option will display all of the results in full format-all their database information-to your screen.

Maximum Number of Organizations to Display

To change the number of organizations to display, click your mouse into the number box, delete the current number, and enter a new one.
